ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Artist Only Known as Kat- “The Art of Giving”KAT-1 2

I started drawing at the early age of 7 but didn’t discover my artistic potential until my first art class in high school.  I fell in love with pencil drawings and it became a lifelong passion.  My first photo-realistic drawing was a photo of my Grandfather, paying homage for inheriting his artistic skills.

Although I love working with colored pencils, I gravitated more towards using graphite pencil. It’s intriguing to recreate life through our own visual perception and creativity with the simplicity of a pencil.  I specialized in the exquisite and stunning effect of black and white graphite pencil drawing.  The simplicity of black and white drawings has a timeless quality.  I draw exclusively from photos and strive to reproduced the image as realistically as possible in exact pictorial detail.  Detail is the key to creating realism as well as patience.  As a self-taught artist, my techniques and skills have improved with every drawing and I hope to continued learning and exploring my creativity.

The one thing I love about my passion is being able to share it with my family and friends. Unbeknownst to them, many stolen photos of their children or loved ones became drawings for surprising gifts.  My gifts represents my unconditional love for them, a keepsake memory to be cherished from generations to generations but more importantly it’s gratifying to witness their reaction and raw emotion of gratitude.  It gives me great pleasure knowing I can give a gift of love with sentimental value that’s timeless and priceless…Time can never be recreated but we can relive our cherished moments from memories, art and/or photography.

My other interests and hobbies are traveling, cooking, eating, collecting Wonder Woman memorabilia and spending time with my loved ones.  My education includes earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication.
